The Ashdown Forest is an ancient area of open heathland within the heart of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. As the forest comprises two areas subject to national protection – a SAC (Special Area of Conservation) and a SPA (Special Protection Area) – any potential impact from development must be taken into account by Wealden District Council, the Local Planning Authority.
The effect of traffic emissions on air quality is a key consideration. Any additional motorised traffic from development can lead to increased nitrogen deposition which could have a negative impact on the forest.
The GTA Transport team has provided guidance and advice in relation to the potential impact on air quality for development projects of varying scale within the Ashdown Forest.
Using a variety of approaches, we have prepared a number of detailed specialist reports which have demonstrated zero impact on the forest from potential increases in development-related traffic.
GTA Civils & Transport have provided an excellent service which has involved a very detailed and efficient assessment of the traffic impacts of development on air quality on Ashdown Forest. I would highly recommend them for this specialist work.
