GTA Civils & Transport has carried out a detailed Flood Risk Assessment for this large residential development of up to 1,200 new homes, including a secondary and primary schools in Kemsley, near Sittingbourne in Kent.
Due to varying geology, the assessment outlined how surface water would be dealt with for different areas of the site.
The north of the site overlays silts and clays, so discharge to the watercourse was proposed via a restriction to greenfield rates, whilst the southern areas of the site overlays sands and silts which could be used for infiltration, including permeable paving.
The project is currently progressing through the planning application process.
