Martin Roberts IENG, ACIWEM, MCIHT
Martin is a director who enjoys giving personal attention to his clients by successfully managing their projects with good communication. He has a reputation for producing high quality, innovative and cost-effective design solutions.
Martin’s specialist skills lie in Flood Risk solutions, SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems) and overcoming Environment Agency objections and SUDS officer’s objections on difficult sites.
He is also responsible for the financial well-being of the company and personally overseeing the workload of the engineering team. As managing director since 2007, he has seen the company through a steady and continual growth. Starting as a Trainee Engineer in 1991 and working his way up, he has been involved in all aspects of design from planning to completion.
Neil Stevenson MCIHT
Neil is at the forefront of developing new business and extending existing relationships at GTA Civils & Transport. With over 35 years in the construction industry, he has a well-rounded wealth of experience to apply to a variety of projects to the benefit of clients.
Joining GTA in 2006 as a director, he has overseen the increase in the company’s commercial and residential housing market client base.
Currently, he shares the responsibility of all civil engineering projects and workload of the engineering team.
Neil’s skills across the engineering disciplines are strong, particularly in the areas of highways and building developments.
Lawrence Stringer BENG, CENG, MCIHT, MRTPI
Lawrence oversees GTA's Transport Planning Team, delivering a range of services such as Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and transport modelling. He has over 35 years of experience in senior management roles at both East Sussex County Council and West Sussex County Council.
Within these roles, Lawrences's work centred around assessing the impact of large developments and helping develop planning policy. At his time at East Sussex County Council, he was part of the TRICS Management board which gives him a detailed knowledge of the database and its application in the development process.
During his time in the private sector, he’s been responsible for delivering numerous successful developments by providing expert transport advice for a range of development types. Lawrence is responsible for the long-term transport planning and traffic monitoring of major schemes. He often oversees engineers design work for Section 38 and 278 agreements.
Lawrence is a Reviewer for the Chartered Institute of Highways & Transport for those wishing to become Chartered & Incorporated Engineers. He became a Fellow in 2022 and is also helping the CIHT develop their presence in Sub-Saharan Africa. He is also a Chartered Town Planner.
Roger New CENG, MICE, BSC, MSC
Roger has worked in the transportation field for over 40 years and has substantial technical and managerial experience in transport analysis work in both public and private sectors. He was also a leading figure in the formation and development of the TRICS database and has an in depth knowledge of the system.
Within GTA, Roger has prepared Transport Assessments for major new housing schemes, retail and other commercial developments throughout London and the South of England.
He also provides technical assistance to East Sussex County Council in the specification, management, interpretation and practical application of transport models throughout the county, and has represented the council as highway authority at several Examinations in Public into new local plans.
For Wealden District Council, Roger developed a traffic model to identify levels of traffic changes in certain EU designated sites (including Ashdown Forest SAC) that would result from new local plan and major development proposals across the southeast.
Richard Wells
Richard is the Associate Director for the Transport Planning team at GTA Civils & Transport. He has strong project management experience across a range of highways and transport projects and programmes. He also has previous local highway authority experience in project management and development planning roles.
Richard leads on various projects, winning new contracts, using established clients as well as developing new contacts and continuing to build a solid workload to support the growth of the client base in the region.
He particularly enjoys coaching and mentoring junior members of the team, encouraging and developing skills and expertise that GTA can offer.
Martin Burchell
Martin started off his career as a CAD Technician and has gained experience in various different roles within civil engineering field. Now, as an Associate Director at GTA Civils & Transport, he is able to use skills gained at different levels of the industry to find the best engineering solutions for clients.
He is personally responsible for maintaining company standards. He also leads the training and development of new civil engineers and CAD technicians, helping them to progress their careers within the company.
Martin manages various challenging projects from planning stage through to completion, engaging with the wider design team and various authorities, maintaining good client relationships. His attention to detail combined with proficiency in 3D modelling and Drainage Design, ensures a robust and cost-effective design for his clients.
Grant Kahil
Grant joined GTA Civils & Transport in 2017 as a Senior Engineer with a first class Honours degree. Now as an Associate Director, he helps to maintain existing client relationships and develop new ones. He assists the directors in preparing job briefs that provide cost effective solutions for clients.
His proficiency in 3D drainage and levels design allows the projects he is working on to be value engineered and ensures the clients design brief is achieved.
With many of the projects he manages being in London, Grant is always on hand for meetings and dealing with client queries regarding complex site issues, ranging from planning objections to on site works.
